Who We Are: Our Lions Club received its Charter in 1972 and has served the community continuously since then. We are comprised of 24 members ranging in age from 25 to 82 years from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.  Our members are also business owners, former educators, retired professionals, former military, and are involved in local politics,  church and civic activities. We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at the Lions Den at 1752 Welsh Road at 7:00 PM. We also meet for dinner at 7:00 PM on the 4th Monday of each month at Mifflin Court, Shillington.

What Charities Do We Support:  Our activities provide donations to the following charitable organizations:

How Do We Do It:  Our members are very busy throughout the year working at various projects to raise the moneys needed to support the above organizations.  Look for our Bright Yellow Food Trailer at these events every year:

What is Beacon Lodge:  Beacon Lodge Camp for the Blind is situated on a large wooded tract of land on the Juniata River in Mifflin County Pennsylvania.  This camp is maintained by the Lions Clubs from all over Pennsylvania and provides camping experiences to patrons who might never have such an opportunity.  Any blind or handicapped person may attend camp sessions during summer months regardless of financial ability.  Camperships are available from our club as well as from most others in the state.  Typical activities include swimming, fishing, nature trails, crafts, bowling, playgrounds, bicycling and many more.  Campers stay in group cabins with modern facilities hosted by counselors during their one or two week sessions.  If you would like more information please contact us by mail at the address below.

Medical Appliances for Loan:    We maintain a large collection of medical aids for loan to the community at no charge.  We have hospital beds, walkers, commodes, crutches, wheelchairs and similar items available to anyone in the community who needs them.  Please contact us if you have a requirement for this equipment.

Eyeglass and Hearing Aid Collection: You are invited to drop off used glasses, lenses, cases and hearing aids at any of our several collection points. Click Here for more information.

Community Welfare:  We are able to provide limited assistance to members of our community in the event of special needs.  We provide holiday turkeys to needy families and we have helped families recover from fires and other personal tragedies.  We will consider each request on a case by case basis to determine if we are able to help.  Write to us at the address below.

Community Projects:  We have assisted the residents of Cumru Township and Berks County in many ways during the past years.  Cumru Township Lions Club provided materials and labor to renovate two rooms inside Warren House . Our members repaired and painted the exterior of Warren House. We provided partial funding and labor for the erection of the Picnic Pavilion at the Warren House play area.  We donated \\$3000 towards the purchase of 2 portable heart defibrilators carried by the Township Police cars.  And in a joint project with Muhlenberg Township Lions, we contributed \\$5000 towards the purchase of a specially trained dog to be used by the District Attorney's Drug Task Force.  This dog and his handler have been credited with some remarkable drug busts in the County.

Member Social Events:  Our members enjoy each other's company in a variety of social activities including picnics, dinner theater, dancing, and bus trips. Read more about our Activities.
